Project / Contribution (2023–2025): Together for Health: Clinical Innovation and Medical Training
Award Category: Clinical Excellence, Education, and Training
For those who have treated complex cases with exceptional outcomes, demonstrating the perfect blend of science and humanity.
As a university professor, I introduced an interactive approach to medical education, continued from undergraduate studies through residency training, with evident clinical impact. This approach encourages young physicians to actively engage in clinical decision-making, case presentations, and performance monitoring based on specialty training curricula.
Additionally, my position as Head of Clinic has given me the opportunity and responsibility to stimulate, assist, and personally engage in the professional development of colleagues, supporting them in obtaining complementary certifications and advancing toward excellence—sometimes even surpassing my own expertise in certain areas of the specialty. Beyond mentoring, clinical impact is reinforced by achieving a high level of competence in endoscopic gynecology (laparoscopy and hysteroscopy), with our clinics becoming recognized training centers in these techniques, in addition to pediatric gynecology.
In the spirit of mentoring and medical education with clinical impact, I have:
Organized an ultrasound course;
Organized a public speaking course;
Lectured at two laparoscopy courses within the simulation center.
To create an optimal clinical framework, I participated as an expert and beneficiary in:
The reception of the modernized Obstetrics-Gynecology clinic;
The planning of the new “Mother and Child” building financed through PNRR.
My mentoring activity is complemented academically by participation in:
Various academic committees—undergraduate (chair), academic promotion;
Doctoral committees (6) and habilitation committees (3) as Director of the Doctoral School of Medicine and member of CSUD, both locally and at other universities.
I introduced and supported performance criteria for tuition-free or scholarship-awarded doctoral program admissions and for academic scholarships. In addition to financial support for doctoral mobility (national and international), I promoted the publication of ISI articles, covering full publication costs for Q1 and Q2 journals.
As a member of the organizing committee of the 33rd Scientific Communication Session, “Ovidius” University Constanța, Faculty of Medicine, I encouraged and supported the participation of young colleagues throughout their research and scientific communication.
At the national and international level, I have:
Organized 3 editions of the national conference with international participation, “(Good) Medical Practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology Supported by Clinical Guidelines”;
Served as invited lecturer or speaker at 3 courses, 14 national conferences, and 6 international congresses;
Served on the scientific committee of 2 conferences (one international);
Participated as moderator in 15 national and international conferences.
Most of the scientific contributions during the reported period, although as lead author, were achieved within the teams I lead, with junior collaborators often as first authors:
7 book chapters;
15 ISI journal articles with impact factor (10 as lead author);
4 BDI journal articles (lead author);
13 studies published in proceedings (1 ISI, 3 international);
35 scientific presentations (7 as lead author).
Within this context, I received a scientific award for a presentation by a resident physician and 5 UEFISCDI awards for scientific articles. My H-index = 20.
International mentoring and medical education impact:
Member of boards: New European Medical Academy, European Academy of Clinical Leadership, Mediterranean Academy of Mastology;
Lecturer in 2023 and 2024 at courses/training organized with Kenyatta University (Nairobi, Kenya) under a temporary license for foreign doctors – Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council;
Fellow of Clinical Leadership, European Academy of Clinical Leadership;
Member of the Panel of Judges for the European Fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (EFOG – EBCOG), annually;
Recipient of 3 Certificates of Appreciation.
Non-surgical and leadership training:
Faculty Team, Advanced Lions Leadership Institute, Lions Clubs International, Berlin;
3 annual national trainings, “Emerging Lions Leadership Institute,” Lions Clubs International.
What does this award mean to you?
Recognition of our work and, more importantly, of the link between mentoring, clinical impact, and the evolution of individuals and communities—at an international level of excellence.
If you win, what message would you like to share with others?
Mentoring, particularly in medical education, has a meaningful clinical impact on patients, opens doors to international awareness, and most importantly, contributes to personal and human development.
